TOP 6

Here is a list of the top 6 scientists from the Renaissance

01

Galileo Galilei

Galileo was the greatest scientist of the Renassinace and maybe of all time. He discovered that the planets orbit the sun, improved the telescope, observe and describe the moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, the phases of Venus, sunspots and the rugged lunar surface. He also created a new way of thinking where you should try things yourself instead of relying on ancient thoughts.

02

Rene Descartes

Rene Descartes has invented and discovered many, many things. From the coordinate grid to studying psychology, he succeeded in many subjects. The grid helps modern society with mathematics, and his study of space has helped us understand things about the solar system and the planets.

03

Gerardus Mercator

Mercator has helped the world so much with his navigational advancements. This great man created the Mercator projection which still today helps sailors across the seas find their way with great ease. Creating his world map also gave people a more accurate (even though it was still inaccurate) look at the world on a flat rectangular piece of paper.

04

Johannes Kepler

Kepler was a great astronomer in the Renaissance. His main contribution was creating the three laws of planetary motion and making models of them. He also helped other scientists with his theories and even worked and argued with Galileo.

05

Nicolaus Copernicus

Nicolaus Copernicus took a giant leap for astronomy by challenging the Church's ideas of the solar system. The giant leap was creating the heliocentric model of our solar system we know and use today. Having this leap allowed for many more advancements yet to come sooner rather then later.

06

Antonie Van Leeuwenhoek

Leeuwenhoek's inventions are very important to society. The microscope has changed modern technology a lot with helping us understand cells and organisms.
