Galileo Galilei was a very famous astrmoner and mathmatician, who has been reffered to as the Father of Modern Science. Galileo was born in Florence, Italy and made many discoveries in mathematics and fundamental science as a professor at the University of Padua. Galileo has accomplished many feats like inventing an improved telescope that let him observe and describe the moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, the phases of Venus, and sunspots. He also was the first to see the craters on the moon, but his most famous accomplishment is as Galileo studied the planets and the Sun, he became convinced that the Earth and the other planets orbited the Sun. Although, the powerful Catholic Church considered Galileo's ideas as heresy. At first they sentenced him to life in prison, but later allowed him to live at his home in Tuscany under house arrest. The reason why Galileo is important to the Renassiance is that he developted a new way of thinking. This new way allowed people to prove your beliefs and don’t rely on listening to ancient thoughts. For example, one of the traditional beliefs was that if you dropped two items of different weights, but the same size and shape, the heavier item would land first. Well, Galileo tried this himself and he proved falling objects drop at a uniform rate independent of their weight. Galileo made contributions to the Rennasiance like, again discovering the moons of Jupiter, the rings of Saturn, the phases of Venus, and sunspots. He also proved many people wrong by discovering that the Earth and the other planets orbited the Sun. As you can see, he made many great and important contributions to the Rennasiance and the Modern World. Galileo was not an ideal Rennasiance scientist because he beleived in trying out and experimenting ideas on his own instead of listening to anicent ideas. This was the basis of the modern scientific method! He also made many important discoveries that sepperated him from many people in academics. Finally, Galileo was a very important scientist to the Rennasiance and made many contributions and was important to the Renassiance. Without Galelio there would be many questions in the Scientific World as he also contributed to the Modern World.
